BK8 Casino Malaysia: What It Is and What the Law Says
What BK8 is according to the clubs and teams it sponsors, what Malaysian law and the 2023 Court of Appeal ruling say about online casinos, and four checks on any BK8-named site that do not rely on the brand's own word.
BK8 is an online casino and sports-betting brand that markets itself to players in Asia, and most Malaysians know it from sport. Aston Villa announced BK8 as its principal and front-of-shirt partner in June 2023, on a three-year deal running to the end of the 2025/26 season, and since 2025 the Gresini MotoGP team has raced as BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP under a title deal with BK8 News. Whether BK8 is legal in Malaysia is a separate question. There is no Malaysian licence an online casino can hold. The Ministry of Finance said in August 2026 that it has granted no new gambling licence or permit, and a 2023 Court of Appeal decision treats gambling on computers as an offence under the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953 in Peninsular Malaysia. An overseas licence does not alter either point.

What BK8 is, according to sources BK8 does not control
A brand’s own pages describe it the way it wants to be seen. These three facts come from the clubs and teams that signed with it, each dated:

Two things follow. First, a sponsorship proves that a club or team accepted the deal and printed the logo. It says nothing about how BK8 is regulated in Malaysia, how it handles withdrawals, or whether a particular website using the name belongs to the company that signed. Second, the MotoGP sponsor is BK8 News, a news brand, not the betting site itself. When a page tells you “BK8 is the official partner of” a team, it is worth asking which BK8 entity signed.
What we could and could not read in October 2026
We looked at the pages that rank for “BK8 casino Malaysia” on Google in Malaysia. They were a mix of BK8-named domains, a site built on a free website builder, and review-style articles on large publishing sites, some with bonus percentages in their titles.
On 6 October 2026, the top-ranked BK8-named domain showed only an “Access Restricted” notice when we opened it from outside Malaysia, so we could not read its terms and conditions. A lower-ranked BK8-named domain carried a long text naming an operating company, an overseas licence and current bonus figures. We are not repeating any of it. A website cannot vouch for itself, and nothing on that page showed who controls the domain.
The practical lesson: treat every BK8-named domain as a separate website until something outside that website connects it to the brand. Similar logos and the same game list connect nothing.
Is BK8 legal in Malaysia?
The question has two halves, and only one of them is about BK8.
What Malaysian law allows. Gambling is governed mainly by the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953 and the Betting Act 1953. Section 27A of the Common Gaming Houses Act lets the Minister of Finance license a company registered in Malaysia, and expressly not a foreign company, to run gaming on premises named in the licence. That is the domestic route, and it is tied to local companies and physical premises. In a media statement dated 27 August 2026, the Ministry of Finance said the current government has never granted a new gambling licence or permit, that every licence now in force goes back to approvals from the 1990s onward, and that enforcement against unlicensed and online gambling is being intensified.
What the courts have said. On 18 October 2023 the Court of Appeal upheld convictions in a Melaka case in which online casino games were played on laptops at a condominium. The court said gaming machines do not have to be physically on the premises; it is enough to show that gambling took place using computers (Free Malaysia Today report). The ruling covers Peninsular Malaysia.
What the licensed casino operator says. Resorts World Genting, warning about sites misusing its name, stated in a June 2023 notice that “online gaming is not legal or permitted in Malaysia” and that it does not offer online gaming in the country.
Where BK8 fits. Pages that call BK8 “licensed” are describing a licence from another jurisdiction. Whatever that licence turns out to be, it is permission under that jurisdiction’s law, not Malaysia’s. In February 2026 the government said a new law against illegal gambling, including online gambling, was being drafted; we found no enacted version by 6 October 2026. Is BK8 legit? Four checks that do not rely on BK8’s word
“Legit” usually means “is this a real company that will pay me”. You cannot answer that from a review, ours included. You can check four things yourself, and each one has a clear pass and a clear “not enough”:

How to read a BK8 review page
Searches for “BK8 review” and “BK8 legit” return many pages that read like reviews and work like adverts. Before relying on one, look for these signs:
- Bonus percentages with no date. Offers change; an undated figure tells you nothing about today.
- A licence claim with no register link. If the page did not check the register, neither should you trust its claim.
- Download and sign-up buttons on every screen. The page earns from your registration.
- No named publisher and no disclosure. Ours is at the top of this page; a review that hides its interest is weaker evidence than one that states it.
- A year in the title that does not match the content. “Review 2024” pages are often old text with a new date.

Not under any Malaysian licence, because none exists for online casinos. Malaysian courts have also confirmed that playing casino games on computers can be prosecuted under the 1953 gaming law in Peninsular Malaysia. A foreign licence, whatever its terms, is not Malaysian permission.
Is BK8 legit or a scam?
We do not give verdicts on competitors, and search results cannot give you one. Run the four checks above on the exact domain you are using. If the operator, the licence and the receiving account cannot be confirmed, treat the site as unverified.
Who operates BK8?
The sponsorship announcements name the brand, and for MotoGP the BK8 News brand, but not an operating company. The answer has to come from the terms on the domain you use, cross-checked on a regulator’s register. We could not read the BK8-named sites’ terms from outside Malaysia on 6 October 2026, so we do not repeat a company name taken from third-party pages.
Is BK8 still Aston Villa’s sponsor?
The club’s June 2023 announcement set the deal to run until the end of the 2025/26 season. For anything after that, check Aston Villa’s own list of partners rather than a betting site’s banner.
Which BK8 website is the official one?
